HOW IS TANGLEWOOD GOLF CLUB ADMINISTERED?
A fully computerised system keeps all members’ details up-to-date.
Handicaps are maintained and recalculated on the last day of every
month and it is your responsibility to contact our offices for your
updated handicaps, alternatively access the Internet. We are part of
the Handicaps Network Africa (Internet accessible) handicapping system – www.handicaps.co.za
and select Tanglewood Golf Club or you may access your handicap through our website www.tanglewoodgolfclub.co.za.
TANGLEWOOD GOLF CLUB is a properly constituted Golf Club with over 400 members and is affiliated to the Kwazulu Natal Golf Union and Kwazulu Natal Ladies Golf Association respectively.
Tanglewood Golf Club is not a “virtual” golf club.
On joining TANGLEWOOD GOLF CLUB your details will be loaded onto Handicaps Network Africa (previously National Golf Network)handicapping system thereby giving you access to computerised
handicapping and your swipe card applied for.
HOW DO I JOIN?
To expedite your membership, simply complete the Application for Membership
form, fax it to us with a copy of your deposit slip for the amount
applicable to you. You may pay by EFT,cash or cheque.
WHEN CAN I PLAY MY FIRST GAME?
Once you have paid your annual membership fees, you are eligible to
play.
HOW CAN I BOOK A GAME?
Upon joining, you will be issued with a fixture list. TANGLEWOOD GOLF CLUB runs organised competitions every weekend on top courses in Kwazulu Natal including a Monthly Mug sponsored by Castle Lite. Bookings must be made timeously through our offices.
ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP
This category allows players who are already handicapped members of a golf club recognised by the Kwazulu Natal Golf Union to join our club as associate members at a reduced rate thereby allowing such players to participate in all our club competitions including Club Championships and Monthly Mugs, enjoying all the privileges afforded to full members.
GOLF TUITION
We have a formal association with John Dickson, a registered PGA member, for both individual and group tuition. John may be contacted on 082 990 7201.
DRIVING RANGE FACILITIES
We have formal arrangements for the benefit of our members with both the EMBERTON GOLF CENTRE situated in Hillcrest and WESTVILLE DRIVING RANGE in Spine Road adjacent to the Westville Hospital. Both facilities boast superb floodlit driving ranges, practice putting areas together with change-room facilities and coffee shops.
HANDICAP SYSTEM
Members must hand in scores from all games played to have a true handicap. Handicaps are recalculated on the last day of the month and it is your responsibility to check your handicap. Interim revisions of handicaps are also done during the course of the month.
New members and visitors without official handicaps must play off
a handicap of 18 for men and 24 for ladies or off their last official
handicap until such time as we receive a minimum of five gross score
results from you whereafter you will be given a current official handicap.
Your handicap can be obtained through our offices.
Should you lose or damage your SAGA swipe card,
a fee of R55,00 will be charged for the replacement thereof.
There are in excess of 160,000 officially handicapped golfers country-wide on the Handicaps Network Africa handicapping system which will enable you to swipe your card at clubs in South Africa. Should a club at which you play be off line, you must telephone, e-mail or fax us your scores and we will gladly enter these for you.
RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. Membership subscriptions are for a period of one year commencing
1 July to 30 June in each calendar year. Subscriptions are payable
to TANGLEWOOD GOLF CLUB annually in advance. New members joining during
the course of our financial year will be required to pay membership
fees on a structured basis (not pro-rated). Any resignations must be
submitted, in writing, on or before 30 June in each year.
2. Your affiliation status is dependent on your subscriptions to TANGLEWOOD
GOLF CLUB being up-to-date.
3. Any player who books a game and does not arrive or fails to cancel
his/her game timeously, will be obliged to pay the appropriate green
fees before being allowed to play in the next game. The same applies
if you book for a visitor - his name and your number must appear on
the time sheet. Inclement weather is not an acceptable reason for not
arriving at a golf game that you have booked for. Unless the course is closed by the club concerned, you are obligated to fulfil your booking obligation.
4. TANGLEWOOD GOLF CLUB has a written agreement with Cato Ridge Country Club and Cotswold Downs Golf Estate which stipulates that no member of either club may join the other club for a period of one (1) year from date of resignation from either club.
5. Please remember :
As a member of TANGLEWOOD GOLF CLUB you have a responsibility to uphold
our good name and reputation. When playing at any course we are there
as guests only and must under no circumstances abuse this privilege.
TANGLEWOOD GOLF CLUB reserves the right to take disciplinary action
against any member bringing the name of our Club into disrepute.
Members and visitors must abide by and conform to all rules of the
host club. These include all dress regulations both on the course and
in the clubhouse. No member or visitor is permitted to play in jeans or in a
tee-shirt. Proper golfing attire
is imperative both on and off the golf course and golf etiquette is
to be observed at all times. Iif short socks are to be worn, they must be predominantly white in colour.
- Speed up play
- Repair all pitch marks and divots
- Rake bunkers
- Adhere to local rules.
Players should present themselves to the starter at least twenty minutes before
tee-off time. Late-comers will automatically forfeit their times and will only
be accommodated once all other players have teed off should the field permit.
Score cards must be completed correctly. It is the players’ responsibility
to fill in names and surnames, gross scores and competition results. You may be disqualified
if you hand in an incomplete and/or incorrect scorecard. Scorecards are to
be signed by both player and marker.
Any unclaimed prizes will be held by us in safe keeping for a period of one month only whereafter they will be utilised as prizes for future fixtures.
